I can't believe I ever thought INXS might make a mistake and pick someone else. JD is so perfect for them. Now, two years later, it's just Our Band INXS. No more, JD and INXS or JD/INXS. It's INXS and I love them!

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	September 20th, two years ago, I was sitting (jumping, squirming, squeeing) on my girlfriend's couch, eyes glued to her TV set. I would get so nervous I couldn't watch for a few seconds, then I would get worried that I might miss JD, and I'd have to start watching again. Now, when people say their stomach is in knots, I know exactly what they mean, 'cause that's how it was with mine. I was so invested in JD winning, I simply couldn't believe that my favourite band would pick anyone but my choice for them. When we watched on finale night, INXS had, of course, already made their choice much earlier in the day, but I couldn't read the "spoilers". I wanted it to feel like unwrapping that special package on your Birthday or Christmas morning! That instant when Tim pulled off his shades and told JD he was "right" for INXS is right up there with some of the happiest moments of my life! My girlfriend and I grabbed each other's arms, pogo'd around that room and screamed, and cried, for the pure joy of it all. I couldn't dial the phone fast enough to get through to eejay so we could squee on the phone together! That wonderful feeling that we all shared comes rushing back every time I think about that day, or we re-watch the finale together. I get a silly grin on my face and my eyes tear up all over again! I usually thank JD for bringing my favourite band back into my life, but today I want to thank Tim, Andrew, Jon, Garry and Kirk for putting their heads, and hearts, together and picking JD. It's been a fantastic two years spent growing with INXS and I can hardly wait for many more albums and tours to come!

Glued to my television set, my stomach churning, in knots, trying to analyze every sound, every gesture, every performance, looking for any little nuance that could make me feel a little easier. I couldn't eat, I couldn't move. When Tim looked at JD - for just the split second before he took the glasses off - I remember thinking "YES YES YES YES YES!" Then off came the glasses and I KNEW! Like dcg, I would NOT go and look at spoilers, just could not do it. What a moment. If I had been standing, I think I would have fallen to the floor along with JD when Timmy announced him as "YOU ARE THE ROCK STAR!" And I cried. In relief. Dcg and I were yelling and hugging and crying over the phone all at the same time. That moment is forever burned into my brain as one of the winning moments in life -- even if it wasn't MY life, but JD's -- we shared the journey with him, didn't we -- all us BSCrazies. It WAS our moment too..... Still is. (edited because I was so excited, I spelled something wrong...)

Could not site down at all. Finally, I called my dear sweet brother and begged, yes, I begged him to drive to my house with some hard liquor and some cigerettes (he has both--I have none). He laughed in my face. He refused and then laughed some more. I then went outside and walked around my house until I was dizzy. Didn't help. So, the show came on. I was walking round and round the interior of my house. Savannah thought I was nuts. My brother called like every 5 minutes and made fun of me. I yelled and screamed at him to quit calling, but to no avail--he is my brother and I'd die for him. He knows this and used that against me as he continued to torture me. Why did I answer the phone, you might ask? Well, he also leaves really long and obnoxious messages on the answering machine which I didn't want to hear. So I answered and he made fun of me. I was on the phone with him begging him to leave me alone when Tim said, "JD. . . . ." He started saying, "You aren't roit for OB" Tim, however, had better ideas and when he said, "You are roit for OB. . . ." I fell to my knees and started crying, sobbing in fact. And my bratty little spoiled brother laughed so loudly I hung up the phone on him! It was one of the best nights of my life! Honestly! I learned that night that the little guy can win. . .that dreams really do come true. . .that fate always has a hand in this world. . .and that sometimes, however rarely, the right thing happens to the "roit" person for all the right reasons. It restored my faith in humanity. Does so every single time I watch it. The Dreamer dreamed and his dream was so much more than he ever imagined it to be. It was your dream, it was my dream, it was fate's dream, and it was surely five brothers' from Australia's dream come true. Thank God for Kirk, for Andrew, for Tim, for Jon, for Garry, and for the Dreamer himself, JD Fortune! You guys changed my whole outlook on life.

Why? Because I had my hands over my ears and my eyes squeezed shut during all of the crucial moments. I had just discovered that site, but it's a good thing I didn't know about the forums there! I was just using it to find out who got eliminated when I missed a show. And I missed a lot. That's why hubby got the crack for me on ebay. And the rest is history. I know where I want to be exactly a year from now. I want to be watching the finale again with my OBINXS friends. And drooling together over new krack from an INXS concert somewhere in this big world. And listening to a new INXS album as I chat away. After all, JD taught us all to dream.

I was glued to the TV even though I already had looked at the spoilers (yes, I try to find my Christmas presents too). I couldn't bear to hear the JD lost and I knew I wouldn't be able to take it if I watched the show and he lost so I looked at the spoilers. However, even though I knew he had won, the image of him in tears is indelibly etched into my psyche.
