Hmmm, I have really struggled with JD and have finally accepted him as the seventh member. I don't like the way he behaved on Rock Star (nor do I believe people should cut him slack because he was homeless), but there you go.

I do think in some of the songs JD sounds like a cross between Michael and Elvis Presley, and it has nothing to do with the fact the musicians are the same as Garry put it in an interview.

But I do think he sings INXS songs really well (with the exception of This Time in one of the elination rounds as he whined - but that's my opinion others my disagree).

In answer to whether he should be allowed to sing them. I say YES. I had to struggle with whether I thought he was singing covers though and I came to this conclusion.

The first rock band I loved was Genesis. For those who don't know Peter Gabriel was the original lead singer and when he left, Phil Collins who played drums in the band took over lead vocals. Phil Collins is the reason I love drums so much.

Now I didn't know Genesis in Peter Gabriel's day, and I've never thought Phil was singing cover versions.

I was privileged to see Genesis in the early 90s play Knebworth, a day I will never forget - the queueing; the portaloos (the weewee river of poo floating pass); the nearly killing myself running up hill for what seemed like an eternity, only to find there was still more running to do and more queueing; telling the poor programme seller to "run with me, run with me" as I ran up a hill; the jumping over 2 rows of people who were sitting and too slow off the mark when warm-up act came on (I had been crouching for ages) to get 2nd row positioning; the choking fit I had which nearly meant I would have had to go to sick bay (I suffer with hyperactive airways - it happens at the most inopportune moments once when I was a juror in court); the walking through mud and grass in pitch black not being able to see a bloody thing and holding arms out to feel my way along. It was a truly remarkable and unforgettable day.
