I don't know if anyone else has commented on last night's Rockstar afterparty here in Toronto with Mig, Ty, Suzie and Tara. Cancon and a bunch of us headed over to the Guvernment to see them and although I was a little leery at first I have to admit that I was glad I did. W.A.T.T. and Shiplato were hysterical. So funny. I just thought I would comment on the performances. *rolls up sleeves*

First, I'm not one for banning things, however there are times when exceptions must be made. These would include:

1. Ty must be banned from ever using or displaying his tongue in a sexual manner. It is so not sexy and is borderline gross.
2. Mig must be banned from ever singing a Kinks song ever again. He sang "Lola" not only badly but boringly. In fact I wasn't sure if he was admitting to dressing like a woman because it seemed to me he identified more with "her" than he did with Ray Davies. Oh yes, still searching for a package.
3. Suzie must be banned from dressing herself. She really needs to move back home and get her mother to lay out her clothes for her. And we thought it was just Ellie Mae.

Tara was good and I can't really snark on her, bad Tara bad, not giving us anything to work with. I loved her Joydrop song and I'm sure I've heard that on the radio before.

Mig, ah Miggles. What can you say? He did an original piece that was supposed to be, I guess what he thought was hard edge, and to be honest the music wasn't bad or maybe the house band just made it sound good, but Mig's voice and lyrics are questionable at best. Cancon and I left when he launched into "Baby, I Love Your Way". I didn't need to hear that.

Ty...Ty Ty Ty. What can you say about Ty. He's short? He loves himself? Now he is one who I'm sure would fuck himself if he could. He does have a good voice but he just has no emotion, he thinks he does but all it really is is theatrics. And the open-the-eyes-while-I'm-singing-a-high-long-note is just so smarmy. It was a look at me moment if ever there was one.

Suzie. It was the only time the band looked like they were having fun. A few times during Ty's songs the bass player had a bewildered look on his face but looked completely happy during "Losing my Religion". She just needs a wardrobe consultant. Seriously, she needs to ditch those shorty denim overalls. It probably would have been alright had she worn them over stockings, but she wore them over loose black pants and, well, yikes! She really has a great voice though.

All this did for me was to reinforce my belief that JD was the only choice for INXS. After seeing Marty in the Lovehammers and now these four, it is like JD was born to be the singer for INXS. Anyway, I did have a great time and it was interesting especially seeing them right after INXS.
